I thought that I should probably start my bread baking career with a simple recipe. I saw a similar recipe on TV last week and it amazed me how quickly you can make your own bread. This dough does not contain any yeast so it doesn’t have to rest at all. You just mix 5 ingredients together and stick it in the oven and it tastes amazing! I think I should make bread more often now 🙂
300g wholemeal flour
10g baking powder
Preheat the oven with a baking tray inside for 220C.
Weigh out the dry ingredients and mix them with a spoon. Add buttermilk and milk and mix to get a sticky dough. Flour a work surface and form round dough ball. Cut a cross into your dough ball and place it on the preheated baking tray, bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust looks brown. The bread should sounds hollow when tapping on the bottom.
Serve with homemade butter (whisking double cream for a long time to gives you butter and buttermilk) or soup.
